Research Focus
Dr. Smith, RN, PhD joined the University of Kansas School of Nursing faculty in 1984. She is known nationwide for her research into the physical, emotional, financial and social effects on families who manage complex in-home technology and chronic illness care such as mechanical ventilation, parenteral infusions and heart failure. Dr. Smith has 25 years of continuous research funding from various National Institutes of Health.
