Dr. Kelly Bosak received a PhD in Nursing (2007) from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her research was partially funded by a grant from the American Heart Association (#0610096Z). Her dissertation used clinical trial methods to develop a physical activity intervention specifically targeted to reduce cardiovascular disease risk in adults with the metabolic syndrome. Dr. Bosak’s career goals are to conduct clinical trials to support exercise and other cardiovascular risk reduction interventions using persuasive, motivational intervention strategies, which are grounded in Social Cognitive Theory and behavioral modification principles, and specifically tailored to Internet-accessible mobile devices (e.g., mobile phones; personal digital assistants). The ultimate goal of this research is translation of evidence-based interventions into clinical practice.
